Sushi Making Madness!

Yesterday, I decided to do something really different and make sushi. I used tuna and salmon to put in the middle.
It tasted really good but I think I went a bit overboard on the wasabi! Up the nose it went! I felt really bad as it was the first time that Jon had ever had maki so I felt a little under pressure! He still liked it even though the stuff was so eye watering!
I've still got loads of sushi rice which I think I will use for ddinner as it is nice and sticky.
I don't know why I have gotten into the Japanese way of cooking. It's probably the Bento Boxes! It's Japanese food for the time being and then I will mix it up. Then I'll have a nice selection of recipes to do for dinner.

One more pound down!

I'm down to 188lbs now which I think is really good... just 34lbs to go...

Everyone's Bentoing Mad!



I've been reading a website called the food pornographer (http://www.thefoodpornographer.com) which is basically a site of a woman who takes pictures of all of the food that she eats and describes it (hence the porn).
Anyway, she very frequently talks about her lunch which she carries in a bento box which is pictured. They are amazing so I thought that I would buy one. The one in picture is the one I have bought.
I can't wait to get this so I can start doing my own funky bento lunches. The idea is that you just buy stuff to put in each segment but you can also use leftovers from the night before. You should try googling Bento Boxes and view the images as tere are some amazingly creative designs with different colours and shapes.
Once my Bento box arrives I will take a picture of my first creation.

Also, because of The Food Pornographer (who will now be referred to as TFP) I have decided to start being a bit more adventurous with what I cook for dinner. I definately have the ability, I just dont really put too much effort into cooking which is really bad. I'm not working at the moment so I would like to take this time to show that I would be a really good housewife. So what I am going to do is plaan my meals, and then take a picture of them and post it one here. What about the diet I hear you yell... well, the things that I make wont be too engulfed in fat so should be okay. I'll try and work out a couple of recipes and put them on here and then comment on them. It's not just a reason to copy TFP but we can then go back to a recipe and know what rating we gave it and what it looked like. My OH's parents do this but they just write it in the cook book that they got the recipe book from.
I did also buy a recipe keeper from Amazon about 2 weeks ago but it still hasn't arrived. That should be really useful when it does.

Best Show Ever


Last week me and my fiance went to Cardiff to see Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of the War of the Worlds! It was amazing!
You may not be aware of this version but is was made in 1979 to be a musical version of the famous story. It was so good!
Justin Hayward (The Moody Blues) was a little lack lustre. He didn't look like he wanted to be there really. But he still made the show amazing.
Jennifer Ellison really did my nut playing Beth. She kept on slipping into some sort of weird american accent.
Apart from that, the show was amazing and I would very much reccommend that you see it or at least by the DVD!

I'm so wokless!

I haven't updated this for ages and the only reason I did this now is because I was watching Run's House and Diggy has one of this blogs too so I thought I should update!

Well, it's been a while since I have updated this and I am down to 189lbs which is 13 and a half stone. Now, I don't think I will get down to 11stone by September as that is in just 10 weeks but I would like to lose one more stone for the time being. To be honest, I am looking at myself now and thinking that I am starting to look good so that's nice. My dad no longer thinks I'm fat which is a bonus!

I'll get my fiancee to take a picture later as I tried doing it using a mirror but it diddn't really work very well. I did finally take my waist measurement though.
I'm 33 inches around the waist. Not really sure what I want to get that down to really. Maybe between 28 and 30 inches.

I really want to start going swimming or something. I have a really bad back and shoulder at the moment so I think doing that with a gentle breaststroke would help my shoulder and help me lose weight too. It's way too hot to do jogging or anything like that because I don't have any shorts that fit me sso I would have to wear jogging bottoms. I have, however, bought some trousers in size 14 to take on holiday so I better be that size by then!

Ooh, on a happier note, my stepmum gave me a load of her old clothes that are too ssmall for her. They are all about a size 16 and a lot are way too big for me. I literally have to hold them up! Woo hoo!

New diet!


So I have decided to start the SlimFast diet as it is a nice and simple low calorie diet. I started on Tuesday and had my first weigh in today (v. short week) and I have lost 4lbs! That takes me down to 197lbs so I am so happy that I am under 200lbs. So here is a picture of me currently.

On my way to the Race for life 2009!

So I'm now down to 14st 7lbs! I'm really happy with that. Quite a few people have noticed that I look slimmer. Although I did go to my Stepmum's birthday party last week and there were a load of family members there that hadn't seen me in years and they just kept going on about how I had put on so much weight! How rude! It really upset me alot because I have lost 21lbs so far and I was actally feeling good about myself.
Anyway, they are just being negative and I am happy with my progress.
I spoke to my mum last week and she has agreed to do the race for life with me. I'm really looking forward to it actually. I went to the gym today and jogged 1km without stopping. I'm gonna increase the distance I run each time I go. At the speed I am jogging, I can do 1 km in ten minutes. Tomorrow, I am gonna go in and do 1.5km. That should take me about 15 mins. The race is 5km so it should take 50 mins at that speed. The only problem is that I get really bored of running and my legs start to hurt. That's why I'm gonna do it in increments. Hopefully I will be able to at least jog the whole distance.

So I have 4lbs to lose to get under 200lbs and I am really looking forward to that. Hopefully I will get there soon. I have just over 27 weeks to lose 49lbs. That means that I need to lose just under 2lbs each week. I don't count any decimals so we'll see if I can do it.

Weigh In

So since I started the diet on the 5th of January I'd lost 6lbs. I've been aching to get my extra pound and... I did it! I lost another 3lbs this week so I am down 9lbs! I couldn't believe it!
I'm so happy with the results. At the end of March, I will post a new picture of myself so I can see the weight loss visually. It's so nice to actually see the losses!

I almost forgot...

...about this blog! I thought that I would update you with the latest.
So I've still been going to the gym and seeing my personal trainer. It's been going really good and I have lost 6lbs since Jan 5th which is cool. I'm starting to notice it now and since I started in October, I've lost 17lbs!

He worked me hard!

And I am so unfit!
So I emailed the PT on Sunday night and he called me Monday morning and arranged to meet at 6ish that night. His name is Ivor and he's an ex-rugby player! BTW, yesterday, I had one of those slim days. You know when every now and then you have a fat day? Well yesterday I looked in the mirror and was pleasantly suprised!
Anyway, so I went to the gym yesterday evening and met Ivor. He's a really nice guy and he specialises in weight loss and management. He weighed me and took my blood pressure and heart rate and then we started a workout.
First I went on the crosstrainer for 5 minutes to warm up. Then we went to the personal training area and did a circuit.
First started with 30 steps on the step bench (15 on each leg) and then 2 sets of weight lifts. Then I had to do 20 kettle ball swings and then lay on the mat and lift a 3kg ball from side to side. We did that twice but I had to stop a couple of times in between as I started to feel light headed.
We started talking again and I opened my big fat mouth! I mentioned about thinking of doing the Race For Life. Dumbass!! He decided that that would be my goal! At least it's in June and he thinks that I would be ready by then. I guess he knows what he is doing!

On a side note, I bought some size 14 trousers because they were in the sale and looked great. I'm currently a size 16-18 so imagine my shock when I was able to get them on and do them up! They were tight but it still happened!!

I'm happy!

Personal Trainer

As part of my weight loss regime, I'm thinking of getting a personal trainer. I've wanted one for a while but never got round to it. They do them at my gym. I think it's about £25-30 an hour so I would probably do it once a month unil I am closer to my target weight and then amp it up to once every two weeks.
I really want to lose weight first but gradually tone up. I'll a call tomorrow and find out some details.
By the way, I didn't take my measurements down. I keep forgetting! I have to do it first thing in the morning so that it would tie up with my weight. On a good note though, I bought a pair of jeams in size 16 and they keep falling down! Hopefully I'll notice more differences soon!

New thoughts...

I've been spying on other people's blog and got a couple of ideas to add onto mine.
Firstly, I'm gonna take my measurements and update them at each weigh-in. I'm gonna measure my bust, waist, hips, thighs, calf and upper arm. I'll try and do this tonight and update it. With my weight loss being so slow, I think it would help to see if I am losing inches!
Also, I have added some slimspiration pictures! I'd love to be able to shoot a picture like that because, believe it or not, I was once hot!
Because I have all of this weight to lose, I'm going to have hardly any clothes that fit me! I'll probably just get rid of all of my clothes and start again! I was thinking of getting a personal shopper for a day to get some key items and then do the rest myself. The only problem is that a lot of the shoppers work for House of Fraser or Debenhams, and you can only buy things from those shops. Personally, I like Topshop and Dorothy Perkins and a whole other host of stores so would like to shop there too.
The other thing I was thinking was to do a couple of big shopping trips and do it myself. I would write out a list of what I want to achieve and some key looks and basics. I'll look online for some inspiration and then make a list of what I want to get. The one thing I want to do is make sure that I can get a lot of outfits and looks out of just a few pieces so I need to go for things that I can mix and match. The only thing is that you can never guess what colour I'm going to be wearing! I wear every colour known to man! I might have to o a bit of the list tonight!

Weird thing happened the other night...

There we were, sleeping away. We have the TV on during the night because we like to have the radio on.
I was just dreaming that I was Jack Bauer and I was asking someone to look for Bill Buchanan and then the alarm went off. I asked my OH what the time was and he said that it was the 6.50 alarm. I didn't feel like I had slept for very long so I looked at the TV through blurry eyes and saw that it said the time was 2.40am. I told my OH this and he didn't believe me. I don't blame him though because he did have the clock right in front of him telling him the time and I had to squint across the room at the TV without my glasses on.
I told him to look at the laptop time and that agreed with me. We then put it onto BBC News 24 and that agreed too.
The strange thing is that it is a radio controlled alarm clock! He took the batteries out and put the back in and then it went back to the correct time.
Off we drifted back to sleep (although, by this time, we had been up for 20 minutes!)
How random.....

So close, dammit... so close....!

I'm really annoyed now. I got into the stupid habit of basically weighing myself everytime I went to the toilet or went past the bathroom! The result being that I saw myself at 14st 13lbs (my first goal) but when I weighed myself this morning for my official weigh-in, I was 15st exactly. Now to be perfectly honest, that is great, but I still wish that I got to that target. I lost another pound though so at least i'm getting there. Slowly but surely. I've only been on this diet for 11 days rather than the 14 that I should have been so in the next 3 days, I probably could get down to that. I have, however told myself that I will not weigh myself until next week Thursday!

Well... Here goes!


I probably should have started this last week but never mind!
My name is Cat and I am on a journey to lose weight. Only 3 years ago I was a lot slimmer - probably about a size 10 but still very curvy. I remember that I was always a heavy person anyway but now I have shot up to just over 16 stone. Basically I was around 224 pounds last year.
I decided to do Slimming World last year November and I got down to 211 pounds. I basically lost 13lbs which is great because everyone was saying that I should just wait until after Christmas. After Christmas, I put on 2lbs and I really did eat!!! I was very please with that. I started back on Slimming World last week.
I decided to do it online but because I paid for it on the Thursday before I started, my weight in is on a Thursday. I started last week Monday so was pleasantly suprised when I lost 2lbs by Thursday! I've really been sticking to the diet and I have really been craving anything which is good.
My target is 11stones which will just get me into my recommeded BMI. I'll see if I am then happy with the weight. According to the graph online, I should get to my target by July. My actual target is September as I go to Florida at the beginning of the month. My current weight is 15st 1lb. I am 2lbs away from one of my mini goals which is for me to get under 15stone. My goal after that would be another 10lbs away as I would like to get under 200lbs.
I'll try to keep you updated as my journey continues.
